We’ll likely ride through “a few bands of rain,” Nate says, on our way out of western NY this morning. Michael is not happy with the forecast.

In any case, our goal today is a KOA outside Erie, PA, which means we’ll have a full stop in Pennsylvania rather than passing through in one day.

Thanks again to our last New York hosts, the Cederquists, for a great evening, and the overnight stay.

Update (12:00 p.m.): Nate got an earlier start while Michael attended to some business, and visited more. Secretly, he was stalling in hopes that Mrs. C would get distracted and not notice Molly, the Cederquists lab, tucked away in Michael’s panniers.

Sans dog, a dual solo ride today, with Nate arriving at the KOA before Michael gets to the PA border.

An update from Nate, en route, luckily avoiding a second flat:

Update (Day’s end): We left New York behind today, thankful for all the time visiting and support we got from friends and family.

We took different routes to the campground in Pennsylvania. Nate, following GPS, added more hills (cumulative elevation gain), while Michael, freestyling his route, added a few extra miles.

Nate arrived at camp early and had time to break out his new stove for dinner.

He also got to bed before sunset anticipating an early morning departure.

We have our camp setup routines down pretty well now. Here’s tonight’s camp:

So we’re back underway, another state in the rear view. And tomorrow we’ll be out of Pennsylvania into Ohio!
